Valencia Chief Llorente Promises Not To Undersell Villa To Madrid

The newly installed Che supremo has vowed that he will not sell his star striker below his market price.

Manuel Llorente was appointed Valencia’s new president late last week following the resignation of Vicente Soriano. And his first task was to promise fans that he would not sell David Villa if the striker’s asking price was not met.

Reports had emerged that Real Madrid would only offer €25 million for ‘El Guaje’, a figure well below the €40m-plus mark Los Che had set for the 27-year-old.

The capital giants look unwilling to negotiate and Llorente has assured that he would have no problems turning down a sub-par offer.

“He will be sold to the club that makes the best offer and only if the player himself agrees,” the chief told reporters during his presentation speech on Sunday.

“When the time comes, we will defend the interests of the club. If no suitable offers arrive, then perhaps he will not be sold and we will look for other alternatives.

“Right now, we would not sell Villa to Real Madrid. But if they offer a more appropriate amount, then we will study it.”

Llorente then went on to talk about the uphill battle he and his board will have to face to try and save Los Che from economic doom.

“The role of president is not one that is a pleasant experience. It will require a lot of sacrifice and responsibility on behalf of everyone concerned,” he confessed.

“We are conscious of the delicate task we have but we will face it with all our wisdom. We believe that we can provide Valencia with the right economic and sporting viability.”
