Pellegrini Proud Of Villarreal After Defeating Real Madrid
It was the most dramatic of wins, and the Submarino commander was duly impressed.
After his side's 3-2 defeat of Real Madrid, Villarreal boss Manuel Pellegrini could not hide his pride.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Pellegrini said, "We played very well, we created a lot of chances that Casillas saved, and Diego Lopez hardly had to do anything.
"Luckily, we came out on top in the end."
The Chilean boss then highlighted his team's attacking prowess, continuing, "We did not score against Sevilla, but he have scored three against Barcelona and Real Madrid."
Finally, Pellegrini spoke of Villarreal's improved European prospects, stating, "We have a very important game next week against a direct rival [Valencia].
"Today we moved past Deportivo, and with each week we depend more on ourselves.
"We must beat Valencia, although it also helps when our other rivals also lose points."
Valencia and Atletico Madrid, both of whom are competing with Villarreal for a Champions League spot, play each other tomorrow night.
