Angel Torres: Madrid Need Florentino But Not Kaka Or Ronaldo

The Getafe president has thrown his support behind Perez, but not the Galacticos policy.

Angel Torres - Getafe

Florentino Perez’s possible return to the Real Madrid top job has so far garnered mixed reactions from his rivals and peers, but Getafe chief Angel Torres is fully behind the idea of the construction magnate making a return to football.

“Real Madrid cannot have the instability they’ve had over the past year and they cannot be under the control of the same person who has been in charge for the last two-and-a-half years,” he was quoted as saying by Marca.

“Florentino Perez’s return is good news for Madrid and for football in general. He is someone who knows where he has failed and he has the experience. I believe this will be good for them.”

The Azulones supremo, however, doesn’t seem to be too crazy about the idea of the Merengues splashing out an exorbitant amount of money to sign superstar players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka.

Madrid’s solution is not the footballers. They need a perceptible leader who knows how to use the money that the have because one footballer doesn’t make a team,” he explained.

“I believe there will be elections, but there won’t be any voting because no one else can submit their bank guarantee [15 per cent of the club budget to run for the elections].

“But I hope that it will be sorted out as soon as possible because Madrid cannot afford to lose any more time and the sooner the next president is elected, the better it is for the club.”
