Henry Left Out Of Barça Squad

As Barcelona gear up for their first home game of the season against Racing Santander tonight, manager Pep Guardiola has decided to pull a last minute surprise by leaving out Thierry Henry…

Thierry Henry (FC Barcelona)
It’s been a difficult life for Thierry Henry at Barcelona so far and it doesn’t look as though the arrival of a new coach this summer has made things any better.

After Barcelona’s disappointing 1-0 loss to Numancia last weekend the Frenchman was singled out for being particularly unimpressive and he has now been dropped altogether from the squad to play Racing tonight.

The move comes as a surprise mainly because Guardiola not only defended Henry after his performance against Numancia but also said he will only improve this season, something he presumably cannot do if not playing.

Along with Henry there is also no place in the squad for Syilvinho, Rafael Márquez and Martin Cáceres, although all three did take part in the customary match day training session today.

Cáceres is rested for the game after he returned from international late, due to the plane been delayed by fog which was surrounding Montevideo airport.

Racing travel to the Camp Nou after a promising performance in their opening match which saw them draw 1-1 against Sevilla. After the game they then face two more tough games against Real Madrid and Villarreal respectively.

Squad to face Racing Santander:
Valdés, Pinto, Puyol, Alves, Piqué, Abidal, Touré Yaya, Busquets, Keita, Gudjohnsen, Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro, Víctor Sánchez, Bojan, Hleb, Eto'o, Messi.
