Eto’o Tells Spurs: I Want Inter
According to La Repubblica, unsettled Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has rejected a move to Tottenham Hotspur, telling them that he wants to sign for Inter Milan.
Spurs have been working feverishly to try and sign the Cameroonian
hitman, and their Coach Juande Ramos reportedly flew to Barcelona
on Monday, with representatives from the North London
side, in order to hold talks with Blaugrana club officials over a possible move.
Marca claimed yesterday that a transfer fee of €40m was agreed upon, however problems arose over personal terms with Eto’o demanding more than the €7m-a-year offered by Tottenham.
However La Repubblica today says that the real reason for the failed negotiations revolve around Eto’o’s desire to join Inter instead.
"I cannot go to London, I am joining Inter," the 27-year-old is said to have told Spurs.
Eto’o has not had the best of seasons for Barca, although he did still manage to score 18 goals in all competitions.
Nevertheless a summer move away from Camp Nou has been heavily mooted, and there has even been talk in some sections of the Italian press of a possible swap deal with Inter which would see Christian Chivu move to Barcelona.
