Tottenham Looking For Eto'o Help
Tottenham Hotspur are looking for sponsors to help boost their quest to prise Samuel Eto'o away from Barcelona and after being jeered on Sunday evening he could be one step closer to a move.
The north London outfit have been linked with a swoop for the Cameroonian international and are working on a scheme that will see them able to afford to meet his wage demands.
While Barça may be holding out for a transfer fee of €35m for Eto'o, the player will want around €125,000-a-week and that would exceed the club's €80,000-a-week limit to their wage structure.
Juande Ramos started the rumours about an approach for the Blaugrana striker when he stated that if Tottenham wanted to break into the top four then they would have to buy world class players like Luka Modric and Eto'o.
Having landed Modric, the media are now stating that Spurs have made an enquiry about Eto'o's availability and have been given a price which they will be keen to negotiate.
Amid a summer of change, the 27-year-old could well be allowed to leave Camp Nou and the jeers he received on Sunday will not have helped him choose to stay at the club.
The Barça fans were taken in by the media's claims that he was deliberately booked in order to avoid playing against Real Madrid in midweek and they whistled and called him a coward throughout the defeat by Mallorca.
Eto'o was on the verge of a move to Tottenham when he was still at Mallorca in 2003, but when the move fell through he was able to move to Barcelona a season later.
