Portland Thorns goalkeeper Nadine Angerer up for German prize

The Thorns goalkeeper has impressed for Germany's national side and is up for another honor in her home country.
Portland Thorns goalkeeper Nadine Angerer has been nominated for a role as German Football Ambassador. The program recognizes German players playing in foreign leagues for accomplishments on and off the pitch.

The nomination puts her alongside the likes of Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker.

Angerer joined the NWSL champion Thorns this offseason from the Brisbane Roar and was named the FIFA Women's World Player of the Year in January. She made two saves in the curtain-raiser Saturday, a 1-0 Thorns victory against the Houston Dash.
