Bayern Munich and Germany captain Philipp Lahm has declared his fondness of playing in midfield, saying he now feels it is his primary position.
The versatile Bavarian player, who in past years deputized at fullback on a regular basis, has this season adopted a more advanced role under the guidance of coach Pep Guardiola.
The move has been met with positive reaction as Bayern races toward the Bundesliga title with an unbeaten record that now stretches to 47 matches, and Lahm also feels it adds another dimension to his international prospects at this summer's World Cup in Brazil.
"At the moment I see myself in the midfield," he told Bild. "The fact that I can play both positions is beyond question. When a player like me has played for months at a position, I believe that it is an option for the national coach."
