The Arsenal man was expected to miss this week's trip to Milan to take on the Azzurri, but could now feature after all after meeting up with his teammates in Munich on Wednesday.Germany coach Joachim Low is optimistic that Mesut Ozil will be match fit in time for Friday's friendly against Italy at San Siro.
The Arsenal attacking midfielder was expected to miss the match against the Azzurri after picking up the flu at the weekend, but flew to Munich on Wednesday to link up with his international teammates after all.
"Mesut is feeling better," Low was quoted as saying by Bild. "I expect that he will take full part in our final training session [on Thursday]."
Reports from England suggested that Ozil went out clubbing in the wake of Arsenal's 1-0 loss against Manchester United at the weekend before calling in sick with the flu, but the 25-year-old has stressed both matters are unrelated.
"We didn't get back until late in the evening after the game in Manchester," the former Real Madrid man explained. "I went out for dinner after that, but that does not have anything to do with me calling in sick.
"I did not have any problems in the game against United and played for the full 90 minutes."
Germany will be gunning for revenge when its take on Italy after the 2-1 Euro 2012 semifinal loss in Poland.
