The 30-year-old has been a key part of Pep Guardiola's side this season but did not feature against Mainz on Saturday after the club's press officer Markus Horwick confirmed the Frenchman is struggling with his fitness.
"Bayern are without Ribery today!" he wrote on the Bavarians' official Twitter. "Franck has a laceration of the capsule in the ankle.
"It's possible he will play on Wednesday in Champions League [but we don't know yet]."
Bayern has avoided the extensive injuries that Bundesliga title rival Borussia Dortmund has endured this season, though die Roten stars such as Mario Gotze, Thiago Alcantara and Bastian Schweinsteiger have had varying problems since the summer.
