Bayern's Thiago out for seven weeks

The 22-year-old suffered a ligament injury in the club's 2-0 victory over Nurnberg on Saturday, and the German side has confirmed the star will miss nearly two months.
Bayern Munich has confirmed that Thiago has suffered a ligament tear and will be out of action for seven weeks.

The former Barcelona starlet and Bayern summer signing was forced off in the 62nd minute of the Bavarians' 2-0 victory over Nurnberg on Saturday. The German championship side released a statement confirming that the youngster is set to be sidelined for the next seven weeks and will undergo surgery in Munich on Monday.

"Thiago picked up the injury during the second half of the game against Nurnberg," Bayern's statement read. "He will undergo surgery in Munich on Monday and is expected to be out for seven weeks."

The 22-year-old is set to miss domestic clashes with Freiburg, Hannover, Schalke and Wolfsburg throughout the course of his rehabilitation, in addition to sitting out some of the club's group stage fixtures in the Champions League.
