The midfielder admits it is impossible to ignore all talk of silverware, but he is determined not to be distracted.Javi Martinez says Bayern Munich is well aware of just how close it is clinching a treble haul of major trophies, but the club is doing its best to ignore the hype surrounding the potential feat.
The Bavarians had already clinched the Bundesliga title and a place in the Champions League semifinals, where they will face Barcelona, before Monday night's sensational 6-1 win over Wolfsburg in the last four of the DFB Pokal.
The latest success, courtesy of goals from Mario Mandzukic, Arjen Robben, Xherdan Shaqiri and a six-minute hat trick from Mario Gomez, looks set to intensify talk of the quest for three major trophies, but Martinez is doing his best to not look too far ahead.
“It is impossible not to talk about the treble, but we do not want to think about it,” Martinez told Marca.
The midfielder praised the mobility of the current Bayern side and believes the pace in the squad is one of their biggest threats in the final third of the pitch.
“We have very good and fast players. A quick two or three passes and (the ball) is planted in the area," Martinez said.
The Bavarians will host Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal on April 23, while the final of the DFB Pokal is scheduled for June 1, where either Stuttgart or Freiburg will be hoping to spring an upset.
