Olic: I wanted this to be German Cup final

The former Bayern striker wishes the DFB Pokal semifinal match was the final and believes Die Roten can win the Champions League.

Ivica Olic will face his former club in the DFB Pokal semifinal when his Wolfsburg side takes on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena Tuesday, but he wishes the matchup was happening a round later.

The Croatia international spent three seasons with the Bundesliga champions and would have preferred this encounter to be the final.

"I wanted for this match to be the final - that was my dream," Olic told the newspaper Abendzeitung.

He added his former club has the confidence and the ability to win the Champions League, a year after he was part of the side that fell to Chelsea in the final. Olic came on in stoppage time of the match and missed his penalty attempt in the shootout that was clinched by Didier Drogba.

"No one else in Europe are playing as confidently as they are at the moment," Olic said. "Bayern have the quality to win the Champions League final."

Olic, who won the 2010 Bundesliga title with Bayern, has scored 11 goals in 31 appearances since joining Wolfsburg in the summer.
