Bayern players are ready to 'bite the sausage', says Rummenigge

The Roten CEO has claimed the squad will not let any more trophies slip from under its noses after last season's disappointment

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed the team's players will finally 'bite the sausage' this season, and win a trophy after being beaten to two domestic and one European title last term.

The Bavarians finished the Bundesliga campaign in second place behind Borussia Dortmund, and were subsequently beaten by Jurgen Klopp's side in the DFB-Pokal cup final.

And their torrid season was compounded at the Allianz Arena as they lost to Chelsea in the Champions League final to narrowly miss out on three prizes, and end a second season without silverware.

“When you have a sausage pulled away from under your nose, they will eventually snap and bite," he told Bild. "I think our players are ready to go, with that reason, if nothing else, motivating them from the start.

"The players have three weeks vacation. Then the coach [Jupp Heynckes] has four weeks to prepare the team. That is enough."

Bayern Munich gets its Bundesliga campaign underway with a trip to newly-promoted Greuther Furth on Aug. 24.
