Bundesliga Saturday Round-Up: Wolfsburg Come Back to Beat Hoffe

Following a free-kick, Daniel van Buyten pounced on a loose ball to put Bayern 1-0 up, but Schalke equalized thanks to a fine header from debutant Joel Matip.

Bayern were dominant for much of the second half, but in all-too-familiar fashion, failed to capitalize and had to settle for a draw.


M'gladbach and Stuttgart played out a scoreless draw in a rather evenly played match. The two teams had several scoring chances apiece, but neither had enough accuracy to put away their opportunities: between the two sides, only five efforts were on target, all of which were saved.


Elkin Soto fired Mainz into the lead after 38 minutes, and the visitors had no response. Mainz dominated the midfield play and held on defensively to earn a 1-0 victory.


In a first half that saw Hoffenheim dominate but waste chances, Vedad Ibisevic was his team's only player to capitalize. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international headed in Maicosuel's cross on 23 minutes, and Hoffenheim held their lead to the end of the half.

Wolfsburg were resurgent in the second half and took the lead thanks to strikes from Zvjezdan Misimovic (52) and Grafite (57), the latter had only recently returned from a trip to Brazil. Wolfsburg continued to look the more dangerous team and held on for a well-earned victory.


Left-back Heiko Butscher took a gamble going forward and was rewarded when he put Freiburg into the lead in the 23rd minute.

After the break, Diego Klimowicz scored the equalizer for Bochum, before Stefan Reisinger won it in injury time for Freiburg.
