The creative attacker is adamant that the Giallorossi can compete for the Serie A title and has hailed Gervinho's fine form.
The Giallorossi had the chance to close the gap with Juve to six points following the reigning champions' 1-1 draw against Lazio on Saturday, and Totti was happy to see his side seize the opportunity to reignite the Scudetto race.
"We had to win this game in order to give our rivals for the Scudetto a signal," Totti told Corriere dello Sport. "We had to win and we did just that. We are at the same level as Juventus."
Totti then went on to praise Gervinho, who played a key role in Roma's victory with a goal and an assist.
"Gervinho is the kind of player who can create something from out of nowhere," he said. "We are very happy to have him in our squad. He is a very strong player."
The 26-year-old Ivorian has developed into an important first-team player at Roma since joining the Serie A side from Arsenal at the start of the season, scoring five goals in 17 appearances.
