Riccardo Montolivo insists that he can replace the injured Andrea Pirlo for Italy's Confederations Cup clash with Brazil.
The Juventus star will miss the encounter due to a calf injury but the AC Milan man feels he can step into the void as he plays a similar role at club level.
"I already play that role at Milan, so it wouldn’t be a problem for me," he told reporters. "The coach hasn’t told me yet what position I will be taking, but in my career I have always given my all and adapted to the needs of the team."
The Azzurri overcame Japan 4-3 in their last fixture at the tournament and Montolivo admits that fatigue could play a part on Saturday.
"We lacked many things in the 4-3 win over Japan on Wednesday, though the incredible humidity really did not help us," he explained. "There is the risk we’ll feel the fatigue, as in competitions like this one extra day of rest can make all the difference."
The two sides played out a 2-2 draw back in March but Montolivo believes Thiago Silva, who missed the friendly clash, could make a difference.
"It’s true we held Brazil to a 2-2 draw in Geneva back in that March friendly, but this time they can count on Thiago Silva," Montolivo said.
