The AC Milan youngster struggled to contain the Barcelona star at times in the Geneva clash and was arguably at fault for both of the Selecao's first-half goals.
However, the Azzurri orchestrated a comeback in the second half thanks to goals from Daniele De Rossi and Mario Balotelli, and the 19-year-old was fairly pleased with his debut for the senior squad.
"I think we did well in defense tonight," he told RAI. "I tried to stay close to my peak and attack a little when I had the chance. It was difficult because Dani Alves is a great champion who has done some fantastic things over the years.
"This squad is a wonderful group. I was very well received by everyone. The coach [Cesare Prandelli] has given me a lot of information this week, and all the players have helped me be comfortable.
"We have shown tonight that we are a great team."The Italy squad now travels to Malta for a World Cup 2014 qualifier on Tuesday.
