The Serie A battle was due to take place on Sunday, but persistent heavy rain and more forecast for the remainder of the day has seen the surface become unplayable.
Persistent heavy rain has been falling throughout the morning in Genoa, and with more forecast for the remainder of the day, the decision was made call off the game, with the surface deemed unplayable.
The match has been rescheduled for April 2.
"Because of the weather alert and deteriorating meteorological conditions expected for this evening, the Sampdoria-Inter match scheduled for (8:45 p.m. local time) at Stadio Luigi Ferraris has been postponed," a statement on Sampdoria's official website said.
The news will no doubt be frustrating for Inter, who had hoped to keep pace with the likes of Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio in the race for the top three on Sunday, with all three of its closest rivals playing later in the day.
