Allegri: El Shaarawy must not become obsessed with goals

The Rossoneri boss defended the recent form of his star striker, while reassuring fans he had the backing of president Silvio Berlusconi.

Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has assured Stephan El Shaarawy that the goals will come, and defended his position as coach in the face of rumors he will be sacked next season.

The San Siro giant's indifferent form at the start of the season did not hinder El Shaarawy's surge to the top of his team's goalscoring charts, although they have been difficult to come by recently.

"Stephan El Shaarawy is still young, and must not become obsessed with not scoring of late," said Allegri at a press conference. "The club have chosen to focus on youth, with the support of an established player like Kaka among them."

Allegri continued: "At the same time, I have a contract with Milan, all the rest is just speculation. I enjoy a great rapport with [president] Silvio Berlusconi, so I am certain of my place in this team.

"I am only concentrated on Milan."

Allegri has masterminded a Rossoneri revival despite coming under fire earlier this campaign, and will be eager for a win against Bologna on Sunday to continue their push for a place in next season's Champions League.
