Lazio midfielder Cristian Ledesma is delighted he has been called up by Italy coach Cesare Prandelli to play in the friendly match against Romania on Wednesday evening.
Ledesma thanked his family and his team-mates for supporting and helping him reach the Azzurri side.
"It is a great joy. I credit the call-up to my family, my team-mates, the club, all the staff and all the Lazio fans," the 28-year-old told the club's official website.
Should Ledesma get a place in the starting XI, he will become the third South American-born play to wear the Azzurri jersey in recent history, joining Mauro Camoranesi and Amauri in doing so.
