thumbnail Hello,

Coach Massimiliano Allegri was overjoyed as Milan picked up their first Serie A away win.

After watching his Milan outfit edge past Parma 1-0 to move temporarily into top spot in Serie A, coach Massimiliano Allegri praised a positive opening as the key to his side’s first win on the road.

“It’s nice to see my side top of the league,” he declared to SkySport.

“We played a great first half this evening and deserved our lead at the break."

A wonder goal by the ageless Andrea Pirlo put Milan in front.

“In the second period, Parma came fighting back and I think we dropped the tempo a little at times," Allegri acknowledged.

Chances on goal were not taken advantage of by both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ronaldinho - leaving the match outcome in doubt and within reach of Parma until the final whistle.

“Overall, I was happy with the manner in which the boys regained control in the dying minutes," Allegri noted. "It was understandable that we wouldn’t be able to keep up our early pace for the entire 90 minutes, but we need to learn to close out games.

“I was pleased with the way my side utilized the diamond [formation] this evening and given that it led to our first win on the road this term, it certainly worked for us on the night.”
