Milan coach Massmiliano Allegri has told his team how best to progress this season - play for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Allegri has asked the team to recognise Ibrahimovic's rank and responsibilities, and give him his due on the pitch as he heaps colourful praise on the hitman, expecting him to power Milan's Scudetto and Champions League driving.

And he is steering the changes ahead of the Rossoneri's trip to Lazio on Wednesday as they look to improve upon the weekend's 1-1 draw with Catania.

But Allegri knows Ibrahimovic is just one element of the total contents in his squad as he offers hope and encouragement to the rest, telling them to feed off the striker.

"We have to find him a little more with vertical balls or balls to his feet," Allegri told Il Corriere dello Sport.

"Also, he is very good at keeping hold of the ball, and he can send the other players in to finish off the action."

Allegri's appeals extended mainly to his defence. The coach feels they are making avoidable errors.

"At the moment we are paying too much for the errors we are making," he added.

"Milan were built to do great things and we will show this with time.

"Ibrahimovic and Ronaldinho? They have the qualities up front, but we have to improve our defence."
