As Catania recorded a new club record by holding Milan at the San Siro for the second consecutive time following the 2-2 draw last season, coach Marco Giampaolo was delighted with his men for a determined display at the back to grind out a 1-1 deadlock this time around.
“It’s a draw that brings morale to the side,” he declared to SkySport.
“I think my team played a good game and we interpreted the game in the way I had planned during the week.
“Milan put us into difficulty at times but we expected this given the quality they have especially in attack.
“I have to give credit especially to the likes of [Giuseppe] Mascara who had to sacrifice this evening for the benefit of the side.
“Given the chances we created, I think it is a fair result. Now we will look to build on this performance by remembering that with the right team spirit we can match even the big boys.”
