After finding the net twice during Parma’s friendly encounter in Colorno this afternoon, Argentine hitman Hernan Crespo spoke of his delight at returning to the field and his optimism for a great year with the Gialloblu.

“I’m feeling great now and having missed out on the Serie A opener against Brescia it was important to get some minutes in me,” Crespo declared to the club’s official website.

“It was important to show the coach that I’m ready and full of desire to be counted on during the campaign.

“Without doubt I am very excited for the season ahead. Finally I can get back to being a goalscorer again following the quality reinforcements in midfield.

“Last term I was often asked to drop deeper as the system we used required me to do so. I have no problems with sacrificing myself for the side but now with the new arrivals I hope to get back to doing what I know best."

Parma travel to Catania next weekend looking to build on their victory during the opening round of Serie A fixtures.
