Worst XI

Formation: 3-4-1-2

Goalkeeper

Fernando Muslera (Lazio):
The shot-stopper looked stunned more than anything as Mirko Vucinic powered a free-kick by him into the net to score the winner in the Derby della Capitale, perhaps he could have done better to react.

Defence

Dario Knezevic (Livorno): Apprehensive as Chievo attacked, the Flying Donkeys took advantage of his errors to score twice and condemn the Amaranto to almost certain relegation as they continue to sit in last place.

Daniele Bonera (Milan):
Certainly, the former Parma player cannot be considered a player good enough for a big club like Milan. He always looked in trouble when Sampdoria pressed and eventually took down Antonio Cassano in the area as the last man, getting a deserved sending off.

Felipe (Fiorentina): The former Udinese star has been a disaster for the Viola. Defensively suspect seemingly every time he is challenged, he struggles even more when deployed as a full-back. Soon coach Cesare Prandelli will stop giving the mid-season arrival chances.

Midfield

Nico Pulzetti (Livorno): His presence in our Worst XI (once again) is not entirely his fault, as he was deployed out of position, but Livorno clearly miss the influence that Alessandro Diamanti or Antonio Candreva could have had and Pulzetti has shown he is not a capable replacement.

Mario Bolatti (Fiorentina):
The Argentine was once again poor, tipped to be a key contributor when he moved to Florence after a fantastic loan spell at Huracan, he has been anything but for Prandelli. The second Viola winter transfer gone wrong in our Worst XI this week.

Mohamed Sissoko (Juventus):
A stupid sending off that arguably cost Juventus a result at the San Siro. The player lost his cool when already on a booking by clearly fouling Javier Zanetti to earn a red card near the end of the first half. The Bianconeri eventually capitulated under the constant Inter pressure.

Mancini (Milan): The Brazilian really struggles to produce in the final third of the pitch and missed an open net with the goalkeeper stranded in no man’s land that would have made it 2-0. Instead the Rossoneri went on to lose 2-1 to Sampdoria.

Attack

Francesco Totti (Roma):
A forgetable derby for ‘Er Pupone’, whose biggest highlight was his controversial thumbs down gesture towards the Lazio supporters at the final whistle. Rightly taken off at half-time by Claudio Ranieri, the Giallorossi were a much improved side without him on the pitch.

Jose Castillo (Bari): You would be forgiven if you did not realise he was on the pitch against Napoli, as he provided no threat at all in the southern Italian clash.

Edinson Cavani (Palermo): The 23-year-old often lost the ball and coach Delio Rossi spared him the final 20 minutes by replacing him with Fabrizio Miccoli. As a consequence, Palermo found two late goals to draw with Cagliari after he went to the bench.
