ROMA

Julio Sergio: 6 – The Milan strikers peppered the front of his goal but more often than not missed the target. Had no real quality saves to make.

Cassetti: 5 - He was able to make some forays forward but the final product was lacking. Milan picked on him at the start of the second half and he had no answers for Ronaldinho.

Burdisso: 6 - The Argentine did his parent club Inter a big favor by helping Roma keep a clean sheet tonight against Milan. Lost concentration at times and drifted out of position on occasion but was solid when necessary.

Juan: 7 - The graceful defender had to be on his toes tonight as he was not afforded much help from his defense corps. Almost stole the game at the death but couldn’t keep his header down.

Riise: 6 - The former Liverpool man wasn’t able to gallop forward in the first half and looked caught in two minds at times. He struggled for stretches tonight but could have been the hero in injury time.

Pizarro: 6 - The Chilean did not see as much of the ball as he would have liked as Milan dominated the midfield for most of the encounter.

De Rossi: 6.5 - He was sporting the captain’s armband tonight and could have given the Giallorossi an early lead. Gave away possession too easily and nearly gifted Milan a winner late on. Did his best to protect the back four and played pretty well for not being at 100%.

Taddei: 5 - The winger was very quiet tonight and failed to make any sort of impression.  A poor display.

Perrotta: 5 - Gave the ball away much too easily on a few occasions and looks to be on the downside of his career.

Baptista: 6 - ‘The Beast’ looked lively in the early going and his dipping shot in the ninth minute was dangerous but he gradually faded out of the match and was hooked before the hour mark.

Vucinic: 6 - The Montenegro striker came into the match with three goals in his last four games but he was ineffective against Milan this evening. He had a good chance in the 72nd minute but couldn’t hit the target.

Substitutions

Toni: 6.5 - The gangly striker held up the ball well and won his side some valuable free kicks

AC Milan

Abbiati: 6 - He had a quiet match for the most part as the Roma attack sputtered for large chunks of the game but did well when he was called into action deep in injury time.

Bonera:  6.5 - His terrible clearance almost gifted Roma an early lead but he recovered well and pushed forward into advanced positions more than usual.  A good display by the defender.

Nesta: 7 - The Italian was a pillar of strength in the middle of the Milan defense and neutralized a rather impotent Roma attack.

Thiago Silva: 7 - The Brazilian oozes confidence and was as cool as a cucumber at the back tonight. He had some difficulties when Toni came on though.

Antonini: 6 - He wasn’t really bothered by Taddei at all and was allowed to push forward whenever he wanted as highlighted by his chance in the 23rd minute. A decent display.

Flamini: 7.5 - The tough tackling Frenchman was the best player on the pitch in the first half. He patrolled the midfield with tenacity and offered options in attack. Ran himself into the ground and was replaced with 20 minutes to go.

Pirlo: 7 - The Italy international pulled the strings in the midfield and his vision was on display in the second half with his pin-point passing. A dominating second half display.

Ambrosini: 6 - The gritty captain did the dirty work in midfield and limited the effectiveness of Baptista.

Ronaldinho: 6.5 - The Brazilian maestro barely touched the ball for the first 30 minutes of the match. Looked dangerous whenever he had the ball and gave Cassetti fits in the second half before disappearing and then popping again up to miss a glorious chance in the late going.

Borriello: 5.5 - The Italian striker was extremely wasteful tonight. He spurned three excellent chances that could have given Milan a vital three points.

Huntelaar: 6 - ‘The Hunter’ showed some good movement upfront but will have nightmares tonight about his miss in the 89th minute.

Substitutions

Abate: 6 - A solid 20-minute cameo.

Beckham: 6 - Provided a tantalizing cross to Ronaldinho in the 80th minute.

Inzaghi: N/A – Couldn’t poach a goal in the final 10 minutes.
