Report: Tragedy Strikes Villarreal's Giuseppe Rossi As His Father Dies
The player's father has passed away.
By Salvatore Landolina
The father of Villarreal and Italy striker Giuseppe Rossi has died in New Jersey following a long battle with illness, said the club on Tuesday. Villarreal announced the news on their official website.
Rossi has been in New Jersey with his father since being given permission to leave Spain earlier this month. He has missed four games.
The report claims Rossi has been in touch with the Spanish side over the past week and he told them of his plans to return to action soon. He is likely to return for the weekend clash against Deportivo La Coruna.
The Italian international has been playing for the club since joining them from Manchester United in 2007.
