Fiorentina

Frey: 6.5 -
Practically a spectator for most of the game as the Viola dominated. Powerless to do anything about Vucinic's winner which rocketed into his net.

De Silvestri: 5 - Had a glorious chance to open the scoring on the stroke of half-time when he had the goal at his mercy. Sliced his effort horribly wide and rightly looked upset with himself. It was a sitter.

Gamberini: 6.5 -
Like the rest of the back four they had little do for the majority of the game as Roma looked to play on the counter attack. Did what was required of him until the late goal broke Florentine hearts.

Kroldrup: 6.5 - Confident in the air he dealt with the threat of Totti in the first half with ease and had the better of the battle with Baptista in the second half.

Pasqual: 7.5 - Went on a great lunging run forward late in the first half when he broke into the Roma before giving the ball away. Tested Julio Sergio with a long range drive which the keeper did well to palm away.

Bolatti: 7 - On his first Serie A start the January signing always looked for the ball during his hour on the park.

Montolivo: 7.5 - Was the focal point of some wonderful build up play when the Viola were bossing the contest. His outstanding box-to-box run which set up De Silvestri's dreadful miss deserved far better.

Marchionni: 6.5 - Whipped in several good crosses on a busy night on which he also picked up a booking.

Jovetic: 7.5 - Tried an acrobatic bicycle kick in the first half and fizzed with energy when he got on the ball. Forced Julio Sergio into another good save at the near post in the first half and delivered a fine cross for Gilardino in the second 45 minutes.

Vargas: 7.5 - Had the ball in the back of the net in the first half but his accurate effort was ruled out for offside. Executed a perfect volley which tested Julio Sergio in the first half. Unlucky to be on the losing side.

Gilardino: 5.5 - Looks shy on confidence and wasted a glorious opportunity early in the second half when he shot straight at Julio Sergio. Not one of his better nights in front of goal.

Substitutes

Donadel: 6 - Replaced Bolatti and wasn't as industrious as the Argentinian. Flashed a shot from distance but that was about it.

Roma

Julio Sergio: 8.5 - Without a doubt the man of the match. Made a bunch of important saves to keep his side in the contest. His double blocks from Vargas and Pasqual in the space of a minute were terrific as was his instinctive stop to deny Gilardino early in the second half.

Motta: 6.5 -
Had his hands full with Vargas in the first half but showed he was equal to the contest as the match wore on.

Juan: 6.5 - Confident in his defending where he won the majority of the 50/50s particularly in the air where he made several good clearances.

Mexes: 6.5 - A busy night for the Frenchman where he provided the assist for the goal and was in the thick of things throughout. Should have picked up a booking for a bad challenge on Vargas inside his own half but somehow managed to escape a caution.

Riise: 6.5 -
Eager as always to get forward, he tried his luck from range in the first half with a wayward drive to add to his recent goalscoring exploits. Provided a dream assist for Vucinic with his dragback which the striker should have scored from.

De Rossi: 6 - A quiet night but did provide some good crossfield passes for his side.

Pizarro: 6.5 - His bullet corner set up the winner and he flashed in some good crosses also.

Taddei: 6 - Provided a moment of magic late in the first half with a lovely flick and turn to set up a swift counter attack. Aside from that he was quiet before being withdrawn late on.

Perrotta: 5.5 - Picked up a booking for a hack on Pasqual when the game was spicing up in the first half.

Vucinic: 6.5 - Took his goal extremely well with a deadly finish. Should have added to his tally when he was provided with an open goal assist by Riise but fluffed his effort. A hit and miss evening for the forward.

Totti: 5 - Withdrawn at half-time after failing to make an impression in the opening 45 minutes. Looked to be carrying an injury so it wasn't a surprise when he didn't come out for the second half.

Substitutes

Baptista: 6 - Had 45 minutes and competed well up-front in spite of a lack of a support.

Menez:
N/A

Andreolli:
N/A
