Marcello Lippi said his Italy future comes second as he focuses firmly on defending the World Cup in South Africa.

Earlier, FIGC (Italian FA) president Giancarlo Abete said the coach's future would be decided before the finals in June.

But Lippi has offered a contrasting view. His mind is on reaching objectives rather than personal issues relating to his time with La Nazionale beyond the tournament.

"I have never said I would leave after South Africa. I am only thinking about the World Cup," Lippi told the press.

"We will see what happens. First lets play the World Cup with maximum attention and then who knows. It all depends on the results.

"Everything is clear between me and Abete. He is a president who I admire and there has always been clarity between us."
