Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano's appearance against Atalanta is uncertain as coach Luigi Del Neri is set to drop him once again.

Goal.com Italia reports 'Il Talentino di Bari', who was overlooked against Udinese for what were described as "technical reasons", faces another spell on the sidelines. It is said that Del Neri is hoping Cassano rediscovers his best form as he adjusts his squad.

Giampaolo Pazzini played alongside Nicola Pozzi on Sunday and their partnership worked well. The coach is therefore likely to stick with those two until he decides that Cassano is all set for a return.

"Cassano is a player just like all the rest and he will have his chances, but only when I feel it's right," the coach told Il Corriere Dello Sport.

Meanwhile, speculative reports claim Manchester City are keen on the Italian hitman. Cassano's agent Beppe Bozzo is in Manchester talking with the club over a loan deal involving Marco Motta of Roma whom he also represents.

However, rumours claim Roberto Mancini may also ask about Cassano during the talks.
