Ciro Ferrara: Juventus Have Confidence In Me
The Juve coach has backing of the club.
Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara has assured the Italian press that he has the backing of the club’s directors.
In an extensive press conference given earlier today, Ferrara confirmed that he was not immediately concerned about his position following a crisis meeting held by the club last week.
Ferrara described the meeting as “a normal conversation at a sensitive time for all, a calm conversation in which they discussed many things,” before stating the overall aim was “to try to get out of this situation.”
Following widespread reports that Guus Hiddink was being lined up to take over from Ferrara, the coach claimed he was not worried about the rumours and that he only concerned himself with the words of club president Jean-Claude Blanc.
“We talk every day and at the same time I believe the words of the president, who is aware of the difficult moment but he is sincere in telling me that he did not speak with any other coach. Even if it had happened, they contacted other coaches before me," he said.
The Juventus tactician also spoke about his counterpart this weekend, Claudio Ranieri - the man that preceded him at Juve, taking the opportunity to set the record straight on rumours that Ferrara was behind the former Chelsea man’s dismissal.
“They [journalists] wrote that I was plotting against Ranieri, I want to say in front of everyone, for me there's never been anything, I'm sorry that you pull out this news."
