Juventus Patron John Elkann: Ciro Ferrara’s Job Is Safe
The Old Lady boss has been reassured he will stay at the helm until at least the end of the season despite their Champions League exit.
Juventus patron John Elkann has moved to end speculation that coach Ciro Ferrara is facing the sack after the Serie A giants crashed out of the UEFA Champions League following a humiliating 4-1 home defeat by Bayern Munich.
“Hands off Ferrara,” the President of Exor, the holding company that controls Juve, is quoted as saying in La Stampa newspaper.
“He will remain as our boss until the end of the season.”
Ferrara had also received the backing of club President Jean-Claude Blanc soon after Tuesday’s debacle at the Stadio Olimpico.
“Juve's project is solid and will carry on,” he insisted.
“We will take it forward, obviously with Ciro and his staff.”
But the Italian press is convinced that Ferrara will be shown the door next summer if he fails to secure any silverware this term.
And Genoa boss Gian Piero Gasperini and former Roma coach Luciano Spalletti have emerged as early favorites to succeed him.
