Poll Results: Milan The Environment Beckham Needs To Earn WC Spot
As opposed to the general disdain of last year's long, fans in a Goal.com poll embraced David Beckham's latest loan deal to AC Milan.
David Beckham has never hid his ambition to join the England squad in the 2010 World Cup. According to voters in the latest Goal.com poll, his decision to rejoin AC Milan will help him realize that desire.
Last year, the Englishman spent six months on loan with the Italian giants, and a similar deal has been hammered out once again. The move will allow Beckham to join Milan in January, once the Major League Soccer season is over, and play consistently through to the World Cup. It will also appease England manager Fabio Capello, who has expressed doubts over the quality of the game in the United States.
Although nearly 60% felt Milan provided the optimal environment for Beckham to seal a slot on the 23-man roster, roughly a third didn't think the location mattered. They indicated that any club where Beckham could find valuable minutes during the extensive four month MLS offseason would benefit the 34-year-old.
Further back, less than 10% voted that Beckham's time has already passed and that the World Cup in 2010 was one too many.
Make sure to vote every week in Goal.com's poll.
