Juventus ace Diego has hailed Italian team-mate Alessandro Del Piero, claiming the legendary striker is a football "genius".

Diego has barely played alongside 'Pinturicchio' this season as the former Padova man has been hampered with injury. Del Piero is on his way back, but he is unlikely to play this weekend, and the Brazilian feels that this is a loss to the team.

"Del Piero is a great player. He is a genius of football," Diego told Tuttosport.

"He is respected both on and off the pitch and he deserves it. He is also an extraordinary person.

"He is simple and has humility. He helped me a great deal during my first days at Juventus. It's a great honor to play with him."

Juve travel to Atalanta on Saturday. Ciro Ferrara's side cannot afford to drop further points with Inter already boasting a seven point lead on them.
