Cagliari 3-0 Atalanta

No one expected to see too many goals in this match but there were three in the first half and all of them were scored by the hosts. Nene broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute when he headed home Andrea Cossu's cross from the center of the Atalanta penalty box.

Three minutes later the duo combined with each other and this time Nene latched onto a Cossu cross and took a right-footed shot from a very close range to make it 2-0 to Cagliari. The hosts wrapped up all three points just before half-time when Alessandro Matri converted a penalty conceded by Federico Peluso.

Chievo 1-1 Udinese

Udinese went ahead in the 27th minute when Antonio Floro Flores shot home from an acute angle on the left. He was assisted by Francesco Lodi after the visitors marched on a quick counter-attack. But Chievo restored parity in the 70th minute when Mario Yepes headed home a Michele Marcolini cross.

Fiorentina 3-1 Catania

The Viola were expected to win this game comfortably and duly took the lead as early as the fourth minute when Juan Vargas's cross was turned in by Marco Marchionni. But three minutes into the second session and Fiorentina were pegged back by Catania when Giuseppe Mascara scored from just outside the penalty area.

The hosts, though, regained the lead in the second half when Marchionni scored his second goal of the match in the 69th minute. They increased their advantage in the 86th minute when Alberto Gilardino scored and made it a comfortable 3-1 victory for the hosts.
