Zenga Still Optimistic Over Palermo’s Scudetto Chances
The boss of the Sicilians feels that there is plenty of time remaining this season.

Palermo were held to a 0-0 draw at the Renzo Barbera stadium in Sicily, against a determined Genoa outfit. Despite dominating for large periods of the first half in particular, the Rosanero were simply unable to break down the opposing defence.
The home side’s failure to pick up any points in front of their own fans has not angered their coach Walter Zenga however, as he was satisfied with his player’s efforts on the night.
“We played a good game. Every round you meet a different opponent, and therefore the match is played differently, and the situations have to be read. My players did well against a great side tonight,” Zenga affirmed in an interview with Sky.
“We had some significant opportunities to score, and it is very rare for me to be apart of a 0-0 match. In fact, it is my first time in Italy.
“Our penalty claims? I do not want to go through what happened in the match on television, because the referee did not award the penalty, and nothing can be changed now.”
Zenga concluded the interview by discussing his side’s ambitions for the remainder of the campaign, whilst suggesting that anything is still possible in terms of clinching the Scudetto.
He added, “This is a strange league, which will be decided only in the final half of the season.
“Our goal is to qualify for Europe, and that will be something quite special if we do achieve it.
“The Scudetto? I will always be convinced about what I said.”
Palermo travel to Bologna next weekend, to take on the relegation battlers at the Renata Dall’Ara stadium.
