The striker's delay was caused by a lost passport, which led Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis to label the player as unprofessional once again. Lavezzi's agent Alejandro Mazzoni spoke about this issue to Radio Marte.
"I don't understand why when something happens to Lavezzi, there's always a lot of fuss," he said. "If it had happened to someone else it would've been considered normal. Lavezzi lost an entire day at the federal police to redo his passport. Normally it can't be done in one day and extraordinary measures were taken to ensure he would be back in Italy as soon as possible.
"Now he is ready to play, in these last few days he did a very good preparation and he's completely available to Mazzarri."
On De Laurentiis' words, Mazzoni said, "I don't want to talk about De Laurentiis because one day he says something and the next day he says the contrary, as he did with [Roberto] Donadoni and other times with Lavezzi.
"He always wants to be right. I also prefer he talk about the contract. Concerning the passport situation, I only talked with Dr. Formisano and told him Lavezzi was available to clarify the situation quickly and that they could call him at any time. I understand the confusion going on at the club right now but almost everyone had their cellphones off."
