Report: Milan Tracking Barcelona Captain Carles Puyol
The Rossoneri are watching developments in Catalunya with interest. Puyol will be out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to sign a new deal...
Carles Puyol's contract dispute with Barcelona has reportedly come to the attention of the movers and shakers at Milan.
The Blaugrana captain is yet to agree terms on a new deal at the Camp Nou, as he is believed to be uncertain of his future role within the squad.
24oredisport.com now claim that the Italian side are tracking developments closely, following the news that an ultimatum has apparently been issued to Puyol and team-mate Rafael Marquez.
If the Spanish international doesn't ink his new two-year deal by January, Pep Guardiola's side will move into the transfer market to replace the 31-year-old.
It could be that Milan will then make their move in an attempt to pick up Puyol on a cut-price deal, but there is believed to be heavy competition for his signature. Arsenal and Manchester City are also monitoring the situation and will step in should the experienced defender decide against extending his contract.
