Serie A Player Ratings: Inter 1-1 Bari

The Italian Champions got their Serie A campaign underway with a disappointing draw against a brave Galletti side. Goal.com rates the participants…

Diego Milito - Inter (Grazia Neri)

Inter

J.Cesar: 7- The Brazilian was inactive for large parts of the game but when called into action he duly responded.

Maicon: 6.5- He managed to get forward well but failed to produce a spark that Inter craved going forward.

Lucio: 7.5- The former Bayern man produced a solid performance at the back and even managed to charge forward on numerous occasions. He should prove to be an massive addition to the Inter backline.

Matarazzi: 6.5- The Italian international had a decent hour but he deserved to go for an ugly two footed challenge on Alvarez.

J.Zanetti: 7- The Inter captain produced another exemplary performance of leadership, but it wasn’t enough to gift the Nerazzurri an opening victory.

Vieira: 7- The Frenchman filled in well for the injured Cambiasso and forced the Galletti wide for the duration of the opening period.

Muntari: N/A-
The former Portsmouth man was clearly struggling from injury and was forced off after less than 30 minutes.

T.Motta: 7- The former Genoa man provided some useful through balls for the forwards and also gave important cover at the back.

Stankovic: 6.5-
The Serbian put in an energetic display but for all his hard work he failed to get behind the Bari backline with clever runs through the middle. His shooting, as always, was wayward.

D.Milito: 7- ‘El Principe’ provided a number of inviting passes to Eto’o and seems his usual self, despite his switch from Genoa.

Eto’o: 6.5 – The Cameroonian will be happy to have scored on his Serie A debut, but he should surely have put the home side two goals clear following Milito’s inviting square ball.

SUBS:

Balotelli: 6- The young Italian appears to believe that he is a much better footballer than he actually is. Constantly tried to dribble his way through the Bari rearguard and gave the ball away more often than not.

Quaresma: 5.5- It is a mystery how the Portuguese winger has squeezed himself back into the side. Following a disastrous campaign last year, he produced 60 minutes of hopeful crossing and unconvincing running.

Cordoba: 5.5- The Colombian was introduced and the Inter defence seemed to weaken. It only took the Galletti thirteen minutes to score after he replace Materazzi alongside Lucio.

Bari

Gillet: 8- The Bari captain had a flawless game between the sticks, given the commanding manner in which he kept the backline organised. The Belgian keeper will feel hard done by not to be leaving the San Siro with a clean sheet.

Masiello: 6.5- The former Genoa defender was lambasted by his 'keeper after feeding an extremely dodgy back-pass early into the second period. Nevertheless, he managed to force Quaresma wide on numerous occasions, limiting the danger of the Portuguese winger.

Bonucci: 6.5- The Viterbese native managed to keep the Inter forwards at bay for large periods of time and will certainly feel aggrieved in the manner in which the Nerazzurri took the lead.

Ranocchia: 7-
The Italian combined well with Bonucci and will be proud in which he managed to restrict the Nerazzurri to shots from range.

Parisi: 5.5-.The former Messina full-back often found himself overlapped by the lightning quick runs of Samuel Eto’o.

De Vezze: 7- The Italian gave important cover to his defence and kept the Galletti midfield well organised for the first hour of play. Considering the standard of opposition, he will be extremely pleased with how he shaped up against Vieira and co.

Gazzi: 7- He worked his socks off this evening and was awarded a standing ovation by the Bari faithful, following his late substitution.

Alvarez: 8- The Honduran was a constant threat down the right flank and burned Zanetti on numerous occasions. He possesses an incredible sprinting ability which could well prove to be Bari’s secret weapon this season.

Allegretti: 6- The wide man found it difficult to penetrate the Inter box and his coach duly substituted him after an hour of play.

Sforzini: 6.5- The former Roma man found it difficult to find space in attack, given the insistent marking of Lucio and Materazzi. He will want to follow Langella’s example of how to open up a ruthless backline.

Kutuzov: 6- The Belorussian wasted a great one-on-one opportunity before the break when he stumbled on the ball and allowed Lucio time to recover. In the second half, however, he more than made up for his error as he slotted a tricky goal past a helpless Julio Cesar.

SUBS:

Langella: 7-
The former Chievo man will be delighted with his 30 minutes work after producing the assist for Bari’s deserved equaliser.

Rivas: 7- The Argentine added some much needed pace on the break and proved difficult to track as he continued to switch wings.

Stellini: N/A- The veteran defender was brought on to run the clock down in the dying seconds as the Galletti held on for a deserved point.
