Roma's official website confirmed that they have accepted Liverpool's offer for midfielder Alberto Aquilani, who will be allowed to discuss personal terms with the English club.

Earlier today Liverpool's official website revealed that they had reached an agreement with Roma for the transfer of attacking midfielder Alberto Aquilani to Anfield.

It was expected that the Capital club would reply to this news, which they have now done in an official note published on their website, AsRoma.it.

"AS Roma confirm that they have authorized Liverpool FC to contact Alberto Aquilani to discuss the possibility of an eventual transfer of his to England," it says on the note.

It's likely that now the only thing separating Aquilani from signing a new contract with the Reds are the medical tests, which will take place tomorrow.

The 25-year-old is a product of Roma's youth system, and made his debut for the club in May 2003 at age 18. He has made 109 Serie A appearances for the club and scored nine goals.
