Del Piero Honoured By Praise From Juventus Legend Platini

The Bianconeri star played all ninety minutes in the friendly against AS Nancy today and believes the team is improving ahead of next season.

Juventus talisman Alessandro Del Piero has responded positively to praise from UEFA president Michel Platini following a friendly against AS Nancy.

The famous Frenchman claimed that the 2006 World Cup winner continued the long line of great No. 10's in Turin, such as himself, Zinedine Zidane, and Roberto Baggio.

"This day was more important for him than for me, it was the celebration of his first club," explained Del Piero to the Corriere dello Sport.

"He complimented me? I am honored. He is part of the history of Juventus and Calcio."

In the absence of Diego and Sebastian Giovinco, the 34-year-old played in an attacking midfield role, rather than as a striker as the two teams played out a 1-1 draw in Joeuf.

"These types of matches can be useful, because they help to regain your condition and re-find the desire to play," he suggested.

"At the moment we are still a little unbalanced, but we are improving. The role I am playing in is not usually mine, but I am adjusting smoothly."
