Reports in Italy claim that Barcelona are looking at Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey to replace Victor Valdes this summer.
The news comes on the same day that negotiations between Valdes and Barcelona with regards to a new contract have apparently broken down. Now, with just a year left on his current deal at the Camp Nou, Valdes' future looks in doubt and he could well leave this summer.
If he is to go then Barcelona will have to replace him, hence Sky Italia reporting that they are looking at the experienced and proven Frey.
The Catalans are apparently willing to pay big money for the goalkeeper and will use Rafael Marquez as part of the deal - a player who Fiorentina are reported to be interested in.
With regards to a price for the Frenchman, it is though that he will cost Barcelona in the region of €15-20 million.
One minor stumbling block to any deal could be the fact that Frey still has four years left on his contract with Fiorentina and is expected to stay with the Viola until 2013.
With the Catalans he would be guaranteed Champions League football, whilst his current side have to go through qualifying.
