Earlier today, it had been reported that Amauri has chosen to represent Brazil over Italy, but now the player has clarified his statements.

“With regards to the statements assigned to me in the press from Brazil and Italy, I want to clarify that I meant it was impossible that I play for the Italian national team in the upcoming Italy – Brazil friendly,” the former Palermo player explained, according to Datasport.

“Any other references to the national team of Brazil or Italy is absolutely without credibility. My only thought at this moment is to give my best is to train and give my best for Juventus. I consider this episode closed and will not be coming back to this topic.”

For this particular match on February 10, Amauri could only represent Brazil as he has yet to receive his Italian passport. Brazil coach Carlos Dunga had wanted to call-up the striker as a replacement for the injured Luis Fabiano, but the request was reportedly too late and subsequently denied, although Juventus now deny they received the request for a call-up in the first place.

The match will take place at the Emirates in London and it appears Amauri will not be involved for either side.
