The Amauri soap-opera regarding which national team the Juventus striker will choose continues to progress, as the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) have waived his call-up.

Brazil coach Carlos Dunga eventually called up the former Palermo hitman as a replacement for the injured Luis Fabiano, but Juventus made an effort to block the request as it had come in too late.

"After noting that Amauri has informed us he has not been authorised to play by Juventus, the technical staff of the Selecao has decided not to convene another striker in place of  Luis Fabiano for the match against Italy," read a statement from the CBF.

Amauri will be eligible to play for Italy once he receives his Italian passport, but the paperwork has been slow and is still in progress. In the meantime, Amauri has made no further comments on whether he will join Brazil or Italy in the future.

Italy and Brazil play their friendly match at the Emirates in London on February 10.
