The biggest talking point to come out of their season thus far however, would have to be the rumors surrounding the future of their troubled star Adriano, who has been as inconsistent over the past twelve months.
There have been several reports indicating that the Brazilian is set to leave the club, with a return to Brazil the most likely of results; however the player has recently stated that he wishes to remain at Inter, all but ruling out a move elsewhere.
In addition to this, the boss of the Nerazzurri, Jose Mourinho, has also stated that Adriano will not be leaving, as the Brazilian is an important component of the club.
“We are all happy to be back and working together, as we continue our quest for the Scudetto and Champions League this season,” Mourinho said in an interview with Sky.
“We are very fortunate at present because we don’t have any serious injuries, meaning that most of our players are available,” he added.
This list of players available does include Adriano, who the coach has spoken with since his delayed return home from holidays in Brazil.
“He is an important player, and you are aware that I have spoken with him as a result; however, it wasn’t for very long,” Mourinho continued.
“My hand was placed in front of my mouth to prevent you people from knowing what we were saying, and so I did not say anything special.
“I can tell you though that Adriano is working well, and as I have previously said, he is in line for a call up in the next couple of games,” the Inter boss concluded.
Inter get their year underway this Saturday, when they host Cagliari at the San Siro stadium.
