Spalletti Praises Roma Resurgence
Roma boss Luciano Spalletti has praised the recent efforts of his players, as they continue their climb up the table.
Luciano Spalletti’s Roma won their fourth successive
match in all competitions on the weekend, with a well deserved 1-0 victory over
Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico.
Consequently, the club has not tasted defeat since November 2, when they were convincingly defeated 2-0 by an Alessandro Del Piero inspired Juventus side, in Turin.
24 hours after his side’s superb performance against the Viola, and Spalletti was still ecstatic with the result and the recent resurgence of his side. He has been very pleased with certain individuals in particular, who have been the catalysts in the revival of the club.
“One of the major catalysts in this great time for us is [Matteo] Brighi, and he has undoubtedly been one of the ‘secrets’ to our success,” Spalletti said.
“The return of [Francesco] Totti from injury has also been great for us, and he scored once again on the weekend.
“However, when we all play well, Totti is a little quieter, which is better for the club,” the boss added.
The former Udinese boss is obviously making reference to the fact that his side has been labeled as a one man team in recent times, and so if the Giallorossi can play well without heavily relying on their talismanic captain, then this may quash these persisting rumors.
The Giallorossi have now recorded 17 points from 14 matches, to sit in 14th place as a result. They are just seven points adrift of the fourth placed Napoli, and with a game still in hand against Samp, the future looks bright in Rome.
