The Sky Blues’ billionaire owners look set to invest heavily in the squad when the transfer window reopens in January and, according to The Guardian, Robinho has pleaded with Kaka to join him in Manchester.
“He is a great player and a great person,” he said to the newspaper.
“Kaká is fantastic and has so much ability. He is strong, intelligent and fast. I hope I can play with him here. If Kaká or any other great player wants to come here, the door is open.”
City may need to qualify for the Champions League to attract the likes of Kaka, a feat that looks beyond them this season at least, yet Robinho admitted that the club’s ambition made it a hugely attractive proposition.
He said, “It's great when we have players like that mentioned with the club. We love it, and the ambition of the owners. All the players are hoping to make this club the best in the world.
“I came to Manchester City because I see them growing and getting bigger. Can they be as big as Real Madrid? Yes, I hope so.
“I hope to play here for many years. I hope to make history at the club and become one of the great heroes of Manchester City. There is a long way to go in this championship and hopefully I can score more and better things will come.”
City are currently on a poor run in the Premier League, just two points off the bottom of the table, having lost their last three games.
The disappointing run of form led the club’s owners to publicly back manager Mark Hughes earlier this week, yet despite this, speculation remains that he may be replaced, with Inter Milan’s Jose Mourinho tipped to be the favourite to take the City helm.
