West Ham hopeful of completing Richards signing

The Hammers retain an interest in the Manchester City right back and are optimistic that they can secure a deadline day loan agreement to bring him to Upton Park.

West Ham is hopeful that it can loan Micah Richards from Manchester City before the transfer deadline.

The Hammers have retained an interest in the 26-year-old right back throughout the summer and are optimistic of getting their man despite rival interest from Sunderland and Fiorentina.

West Ham has been locked in negotiations with City over the past week and was previously informed that the Premier League champion would rather sell Richards than loan him out, having already signed Bacary Sagna to compete with Pablo Zabaleta this summer.

Yet no permanent deal has been forthcoming and the east Londoners are hopeful that they can strike a deal ahead of Monday's deadline as they seek to bolster their defense even more following the signings of Carl Jenkinson and Aaron Cresswell.

West Ham also signed Alex Song on loan from Barcelona on Saturday and presented the Cameroon international to the Upton Park faithful before the 3-1 defeat to Southampton.

That move is understood to have had a significant impact on Mohamed Diame's future, with the Hammers prepared to sell the midfielder.

Hull City has already seen one bid rejected for the 27-year-old, while QPR, Crystal Palace and Everton are also monitoring developments.
