The Gunners legend has called on his former club to pursue Manchester United's out-of-favor Mexican striker.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has called on his side to buy Mexican forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez in the summer.
“Arsenal, go and buy Hernandez from United and put him out of his misery. He will score the goals!” the former Arsenal striker tweeted Sunday.
Arsenal is in need of another forward, with Arsene Wenger’s side currently overly reliant on French striker Oliver Giroud.
Goal reported last week that Manchester United is willing to sell Hernandez after the 25-year-old repeatedly complained at the lack of playing time that manager David Moyes has given him this season.
The Mexican has started just five league games, having fallen behind Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck in the pecking order.
However speculation is rife that Moyes will be fired in the wake of Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Everton, which ended United’s chances of qualification for the Champions League.Such a development could block Hernandez’s exit as he is unlikely to be sold before a permanent replacement coach has been found and given time to assess the squad. If Hernandez is given assurances of more playing time under a new manager, there remains a chance that the Guadalajara native could be persuaded to stay at Old Trafford.
